On reflection this funny tern's nest may not be as silly as it looks.
Amateur snapper Amnon Eichelberg spotted this salty nest on a lake in Israel, where a canny Tern had constructed a neat mound on which to lay her eggs. The unusual location should actually keep the chicks safe, as few predators venture onto the brackish waters of the salt lake.
